What we collect

This website has no analytics, no advertising pixels, no third-party trackers and no cookies. Nothing is stored on your device by visiting it, and we cannot tell who you are from a visit alone.

The only information we collect is what you send us: the name, contact details, city, service and job description you type into the quote form, or whatever you tell us when you call (778) 819-0704 or email info@handyman-vancouver.ca. If you send photographs of the job, we hold those too.

How your information is used

To reply to you, prepare a quote, schedule the work and carry it out. That is the whole of it. We do not send marketing email, we do not add enquirers to a mailing list, and we do not contact you again about unrelated work unless you ask us to.

We will use your address to attend the job, and your phone number to tell you when we are arriving or running late. Nothing about your enquiry is published anywhere, including as a testimonial, without asking you first.

Sharing and third parties

Where your job includes regulated trade work, we pass the details necessary to do it to the licensed subcontractor attending — typically your name, address, contact number and a description of the work. We tell you who that is before the visit.

We do not sell, rent or trade your information, and we do not share it with anyone else except where we are legally required to. Email we receive is held in a standard commercial email service; a form submission reaches us as an email and is not stored in a separate database on this site.

Your rights under PIPEDA

British Columbia businesses are subject to federal and provincial privacy law. You may ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask for a copy of it, ask us to correct it if it is wrong, and ask us to delete it. We will do so unless we are required to keep it — for example, invoices retained for tax purposes.

Make any of those requests to info@handyman-vancouver.ca. There is no charge and we will respond within thirty days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may take the matter to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Retention and security

Enquiries that do not become jobs are kept for one year and then deleted. Records of completed work — quotes, invoices and job notes — are kept for seven years, which is the retention period Canadian tax rules require.

This site is served over HTTPS. Practically, we are a small business rather than a bank: your information is held in ordinary business email and accounting tools with access limited to the people who need it. We would rather describe that accurately than claim a level of security infrastructure we do not operate.

A note on this page This describes how we actually operate rather than being standard legal boilerplate. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer. If anything here matters to a decision you are making, ask us and we will confirm it in writing.
