Terms of Service

Scope of our services

Handyman Vancouver is a sole proprietorship providing general handyman, repair, installation and renovation services across Vancouver and the Metro Vancouver area.

We are not a licensed plumbing, electrical, gas or HVAC contractor. Where your job includes work in those trades, it is performed by a licensed subcontractor engaged by us, who is responsible for that portion of the work and for any permit taken out under their licence. We will identify them to you before the work takes place.

Quotes, pricing and payment

Quotes are free, given in writing, and held for 30 days from the date issued. Time-charged work is billed at the rates published on our pricing page, with a 2-hour minimum. All figures exclude GST. Materials are separate from labour and charged at cost.

If work turns out to be materially larger than quoted once opened up, we stop and seek your agreement to the revised price before continuing. We will not carry out additional chargeable work without telling you the cost first. Payment is due on completion unless a schedule has been agreed in writing beforehand, as it normally is on larger projects.

Scheduling and cancellation

We work every day, 6am–10pm. Attendance outside those hours is charged at the after-hours rate. Arrival windows are given in good faith; traffic across this region is genuinely unpredictable and we will tell you as early as we can if we are running late.

Please give us 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. Where we have travelled to site and cannot start because access was not available, the minimum callout is chargeable. We do not charge for cancellations we make ourselves, including where we postpone exterior work because of weather.

Warranty and liability

We warrant our own workmanship for 12 months from completion. If something we did fails in that time through our own work, we return and put it right at no charge. Materials and appliances carry whatever warranty their manufacturer provides, which we pass to you.

The warranty does not cover normal wear, damage by others, work carried out by a subcontractor under their own licence (which is warranted by them), or failures arising from the pre-existing condition of a property where we advised against the approach taken. We carry WorkSafeBC coverage for the people working on your property.

Dispute resolution

If you are unhappy with the work, tell us first and give us the chance to put it right — call (778) 819-0704 or email info@handyman-vancouver.ca. Almost everything is resolved this way, and we would far rather hear about a problem than read about it.

These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia. Nothing here limits any right you have under the Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act or other applicable consumer protection legislation.

A note on this page This describes how we actually operate rather than being standard legal boilerplate. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer. If anything here matters to a decision you are making, ask us and we will confirm it in writing.
