Moving Help in Vancouver
You have booked the truck and you need people. That is a specific service, and it suits a particular kind of move — one where you are handling the vehicle and the driving, and what you actually lack is four hands and a stair-carry.
Labour-only vs. full-service moving
We supply the people, not the vehicle. Charged at $190 an hour for two with a three-hour minimum, that covers loading, unloading, carrying and placing — you provide the truck, the van or the container.
It suits three situations well: you have rented a vehicle and need it loaded properly, you are moving within one building or one house, or a container has been dropped on your driveway. For a full house move across the region, a moving company with its own truck and cargo insurance is usually the better answer, and we will say so rather than take a booking we are not the right fit for.
Loading a rental truck or container
Loading well is a skill, and it is most of what you are hiring. Heaviest items go in first, low and against the front wall. Everything is built up in tight tiers to full height so nothing has room to shift, with mattresses and board on the outside faces as padding.
The gaps are what cause damage — an item that can move in transit will, and it will find something to move into. Ratchet straps every few tiers keep the load locked. It is also why a truck packed properly holds noticeably more than one packed as things came out of the house.
Elevator booking and loading bays
In any tower this is the whole schedule. Buildings require the service lift booked and padded in advance, restrict which hours moves may happen, and often want a deposit and proof of insurance from anyone moving in or out.
Book it at both ends the moment your date is fixed, and confirm the loading bay arrangement. A crew standing in a lobby waiting for a lift somebody else reserved a fortnight ago is still charged for the time, and it is the single most common way a move goes badly.
Protecting floors and doorways
Runners on floors, protection on door jambs, blankets over anything with a corner — included, not extra. The damage that happens during moves is rarely dropped furniture; it is a wardrobe corner catching a door frame and grit ground into a hardwood floor by repeated trips in the rain.
Tell us in advance about tight turns: a staircase with a half-landing, a narrow hallway, a door that has to come off its hinges. Knowing beforehand means the right kit arrives and the route is planned, rather than the problem being discovered with a sofa wedged in it.
What this costs
$190/hr for two movers · three-hour minimum
Labour only — we do not supply a truck. In-home moves, loading and unloading are all charged the same way, with floor and doorway protection included.
Materials are always separate from labour and passed on at cost. Quotes are free and written, and the full rate card is published rather than given out on request.
Common questions
Do you provide a truck?
No — this is labour only. You supply or hire the vehicle and we supply the people to load, carry and place. For a full cross-region house move, a proper moving company with its own truck and cargo insurance is usually the better choice, and we will tell you when that is the case.
Can you load a U-Haul I have rented?
Yes, that is the typical booking. $190 an hour for two people with a three-hour minimum. Loading properly is most of what you are paying for — heaviest low and forward, tight tiers to full height, straps every few tiers. A well-packed truck also holds considerably more than a badly packed one.
Do I need to book the building elevator?
At both ends, and as soon as your date is fixed. Most towers require the service lift reserved and padded, restrict moving hours, and may want a deposit or proof of insurance. A crew waiting in a lobby for a lift somebody else booked is still charged — it is the commonest way a move goes wrong.
