Cleaning

Move In Cleaning in Vancouver

There is exactly one window in which a home can be cleaned properly with nothing in it, and it closes the moment the first box arrives. Cleaning an empty unit takes less time, reaches everything, and means your own things never touch surfaces somebody else used.

Cleaning before furniture arrives

An empty room cleans in a fraction of the time and to a standard that is simply not achievable later. Floors can be washed wall to wall in one pass, every corner is reachable, and skirtings, radiators and window tracks are all accessible without anything being shifted.

It is also the only realistic opportunity for anything involving the floor itself — a proper wash, or treatment of a wood floor. Once the furniture is in, those become disruptive projects rather than part of a routine clean, and most people simply never do them.

Sanitising previously used surfaces

Somebody else lived here. The surfaces that matter are the intimate ones: toilet seats and the fittings around them, bath and shower including the drain, taps, sinks, and the door handles and light switches every person in the house touches multiple times a day.

The kitchen deserves particular attention because of food contact — inside the fridge including seals and the drip channel, the oven, the microwave interior, and the sink and its drain. This is the point where a previous occupant stops being present in the house, and it is worth doing properly once rather than gradually noticing things for a month.

Inside cabinets and closets

Every cupboard, drawer and closet gets opened, emptied of whatever was left behind, vacuumed and wiped inside. This is the single most-skipped item in a handover clean, and it is the one you notice most, because you find it while putting your own things away.

We also check the places previous occupants forget: the top shelf of the hall closet, the space under the sink, the back of deep corner cupboards, and any built-in storage in a garage or on a balcony. Anything left behind gets stacked in one place for you to look at rather than binned on your behalf.

Coordinating with your move date

The ideal is between key handover and the truck arriving, even if that is only a few hours. Tell us both times and we will fit the clean into the gap. Where the gap is a single day, an early start makes the whole thing comfortable rather than tight.

If the previous occupant is leaving on the same day you arrive — common with end-of-month tenancies — say so, because it compresses everything. In that case we would rather book a slightly later slot and do the job properly than start before the unit is actually empty and work around what is left.

What this costs

$290 standard · deep clean $580–$1,100

Standard clean is a three-hour visit for a typical two-bedroom. Deep and move-out cleans are quoted on size and condition, and we bring everything.

Materials are always separate from labour and passed on at cost. Quotes are free and written, and the full rate card is published rather than given out on request.

Common questions

Should I clean before or after moving in?

Before, without question. An empty unit cleans faster, cleans better, and reaches everything — floors in one pass, all corners, skirtings and window tracks with nothing to move. It also means your own belongings never touch surfaces the previous occupant used.

Do you clean inside cupboards?

Yes, all of them — opened, cleared of anything left behind, vacuumed and wiped. It is the most commonly skipped part of a handover clean and the one you notice most, because you discover it while unpacking. Anything left behind is stacked in one place for you rather than thrown out on your behalf.

Can it be done the same day I get keys?

Usually, and that is the ideal slot. Tell us your key handover time and when the truck arrives and we will work in the gap. If the outgoing tenant is leaving the same day, say so — we would rather take a later slot and do it properly than start around what is still there.
